Junior Marksmanship

Mission Statement:
To provide a safe and structured environment to introduce boys and girls ages 10 thru 20 years old to rifle shooting and introduce them to NRA four position small-bore competitions.

Program Outline:
Our club provides all necessary equipment and supplies needed for getting started. Here is what you can expect:   Prior to heading into the range, new shooters will be taken thru a safety and orientation session. This prepares them for safe handling of the rifles and gives them a detailed description of the equipment being used. This usually lasts the first night. On their second night we take them into the range, select their equipment, and have them start shooting from a support block. This helps with acquiring good sight alignment, breathing and trigger control. Once this is done, anywhere from 1-3 nights, we then start them into using a sling. Once using a sling, we work the shooters thru all four positions: prone, sitting, kneeling and offhand.

Once the shooter has started working thru all four positions, their targets are scored for performance, and tracked with our statistician. We use the Winchester / NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program for this. Please use the following link for more detailed information on how this works : www.nrahq.org/education/training/marksmanship/index.asp  Once the shooter has progressed to a point that they would like to compete, there are many opportunities at our range, as well as traveling to other ranges.

We provide high quality Anschutz, Remington and Suhl match rifles. Rifles are fitted with aperture match sights.

All we ask for is a $4.00 per night donation to help offset some of our costs.
